Uniabuja politics struggles

UNIABUJA SUG; EFFORTS TO REPOSITION IT AND THE ROLE OF SABOTEURS.
It is so disheartening and alarming that the people we so much trust in the common struggle of repositioning the union have no common progressive idea and lack native intelligence and integrity.
The Students Representative Assembly is a vital organ of the union that should be used alongside other two organs (executive and judiciary) to effect check and balances in the system without any prejudice or parochial interest.  After the election of the SUG was conducted on the 9th day of February, 2017. The parliament decided to hold the union to hostage with their own selfish interest when  some of the parliamentarians were fighting for different positions in the house and they successfully held the union hostage for a whole of the 1st semester as the executive arm had no house to forward the budget of the union to,  the executive arm led by Abdulazeez Okoyekola tried everything to resolve the issue also minding the fact of the principles of separation of power and undue interference but the fight of the parliament lingered on until all of them smelt the disbursement of one million naira (#1000000) given to the parliament,  as soon as they heard of the money given to them they tried to reconcile the house so everyone can share the largesse. It is a surprising thing that the house claiming to fight for justice could reconcile for money after over 2 months of power tussle. But as the dealings of the parliament dictates nothing other than sharing those who ran back because of money were met with a huge blow as the  Speaker of the house Hon. Nnaemeka till today could not convince the entire members of the house on how he squandered over #500,000 from the #1,000,000. This also led to another episode of brawl in the house which lingered on until the first phase of the budget was paid by the management.  It will interest you that ever since the inception of the house in this new administration the parliament has never passed any single bill and has never in each member's capacity discussed any issue bothering various faculties they claim they represent(anyone with any contrary view can contest this stand please).
As if the nonchalant attitude of the parliaments was not enough the parliament of 40 members till today has found it difficult to completely screen the representative of the judiciary that is  less than 15 in number since they came on board in February,  their actual plan for the judiciary was to drag their screening and neglect their inauguration so that the allocation of the judiciary can be shared( proofs of this are lying in the office of the President) and they claim they are actually working for the sanity of the system, he who wants to come to equity must come with clean hands.
The shady deals of the parliament continues when they finally resolved the power tussle issues within them and decided to sit to decide the passage of the budget sent by the executive arm of the government, after going through the budget written by their fellow students (the executive arm) to allow the entire students to enjoy the dividend of the union,  some self acclaimed honorables who are also students led by Hon Anthony Ikemefuna representing mini campus hostel, Hon Isa Idayat representing Faculty of Science, Hon Abu Gift representing College of Health Science and Hon Michael Evergreen representing Faculty of Management Science took it upon themselves to start asking for one or two cuts from the budget before it could pass and whenever you asked them if what they were doing was actually the right thing,  their response will be 'that is the workings of the parliament,  I believe you should know all this' (text messages requesting for the cuts or bribe being called 'needful' by the parliament is with some excos as proof)
Surprisingly the speaker of the house who was unaccountable of the take off grant given to the parliament could not hold the grip of his members any more because whenever he feels like taking charge they always remind him of his shady deals and misappropriation and that made him a silent structure, it is appalling that since all withdrawals of the house are being made,  the chairperson of the finance committee in the house has never signed any cheque till today and all she deserved was just brief after withdrawals.
On the day of passage of the budget,  the President with some of the executive members were inside the city of Abuja for a radio programe when some members of the parliament kept calling the excos on how much they wanted to give before passing each item in the budget pertaining to their various offices(there are recorded voices to this effect). The President according to report vented his anger on this frivolous and dishonorable act of the supposed honorable members and the aftermath of his anger is increased level of enmity for the President. During the processing of lobbying of the parliamentarians for their cuts in the budget they left the executive arm of the union with no other option than to tell them to discuss and pass the budget then we could talk o  whatever agreement and alignment they were looking for and simply because the executive arm has disclosed to the parliament that there's no explanation to give to students if the cut in the budget they are requesting (a sum of #800,000) is being removed from the budget,  then they have believed that they can use the parliament as a tool for threat instead of focusing on the ethics and objectives of the existence of the parliament. It is even so alarming that most parliamentarians lack the knowledge of what they are meant to do in the house as they have abandoned their primary objectives and has allowed their parochial interest and personal grudges coupled with ego to becloud their sense of responsibility to the various faculties they represent as they only go into the house to discuss caucus agenda and not their immediate constituencies agenda. It is so appalling that the SRA acted ignorantly and maliciously on self-centered reports given by the union account committee headed by a Hon KingDavid as called representing Faculty of Management Science (who was abjectly drunk while making his position known  to the house)  and the chairman of the union account committee made known his personal grievances with the Financial Secretary based on disregarding him(there are witnesses to this) should we base our decision on personal feelings and ego when taking crucial decision on behalf of the union?
The parliament also frowned at the arrangements made by the executive arm of the union to transport students at a subsidized rate during the last semester break,  they requested the executive drops something from the profit realized but they were made to know personal money of some excos were even used to subsidized and this did not also go down well with them.  The claim of the parliament that the executive arm of the union has collected #500,000 is a clear and vivid evidence that all they have been doing in the parliament since the inception has been based on mere hearsay, suspicion and rumors simply because not even a dime has been collected from any occupants,  the SUG building in mini campus houses the executive and the parliament and the shops so it is always easier for the Speaker and his men to confirm this(even any student can get this confirmation)

iii. From the allocation that came from the Union dues, =N2,031,000 went to the servicing of Executive arm while =N1,350,000 went for servicing of the Parliamentary Arms.
This piece would be  concluded by saying that those who find it easy to point at the speck in ones eye but can't see the Adelabu mountain in theirs should continue. Some have earned a bad name and have consciously or unconsciously sworn to take others and the Union with them, I pity your descendants. Keep it up.

Those who have no bearing of their own and are manipulated left right and centre, continue.

But those who have sincere love for our Union, please wake up, demand for the info before you. Dig into it - investigate and if anyone is found wanting do not hesitate publish your findings in, not only social media but as well as every notice board in University of Abuja.
This piece is coming out based on the agreement of the executive arm of SUG at the last extraordinary executive meeting held on Sunday 16th July, 2017 at the main campus not too hide any person trying to bring the union clock backward.
The executive arm of the union hereby call on all the Students and also particularly the passionate concerned individuals to holistically screen whatever news being brought to them and get the facts before making assertions. Lastly all efforts and roles being played by any member of any group or caucus to truncate the process of peaceful transition will be met with high resistance from the entire students so saboteurs should beware.
SIGNED : AJIBOYE ABDULAZEEZ OKOYEKOLA
SUG PRESIDENT
